THE
BACKSTORY
Ascension Press came to us with a request to design two books: “A Catholic Guide to the Old Testament” and the “Pocket Guide to Novenas.” Each book is part of their own larger series, so our challenge was to show that connection and give them a unique look so they would stand out.
WHAT
WE DID
For “A Catholic Guide to the Old Testament,” we adopted many elements from other books in the series, such as the color-coding system, and added illustrations, timelines and charts. We made sure the “Pocket Guide to Novenas” matched other Pocket Guides, but contributed design elements to give it a personal touch.
WHY IT
WORKS
Many of our design choices were informed by customer surveys conducted by Ascension Press. We knew what their audience liked and didn’t like. Our designs fit well alongside similar titles on the bookshelf, yet still commanded attention.
